Medicine & Dreams Dictionary App Reviews

I Like It A Lot!

For people with no medical knowledge, of which we are probably the majority, Ive found this to be a great, handy little app. In fact, its probably meant more for people like me than, say, a doctor or other medical professional. I dont know why A) people expect every app in the store to be a complete, professional guide for experts when they dont describe the app as that and B) why professionals or "Experts" have to knock an app for not being what it never claims to be? I have a couple of Chillingos other apps (Lexisgoo Dictionary and iChillout) and they are great, unique apps...and no, I dont work for them or have any affiliation. I just like their stuff.

Great reference tool!

This app puts two very useful tools, the medical dictionary and acronym reference, in the palm of your hand. As an LPN attending PA school next spring, I try to learn as much as I can thru my job to prepare myself. This program allows me to look up these acronyms and medical terms quickly and efficiently.

Like this

This is a great application for people who wants basic info on medical terms and medical words . Ive just installed it yesterday and ive learned a lot since. Dream dict. very nice .

Pretty good,,, very informative..

Although, it could use a way to connect to some sort of medical database for additional information and updates.

Its pretty good

Im in school to be a pharmacy tech and I thought this app would help. Its a good app its just missing a lot of Sig codes and abbreviations. I hope any updates in the future will add moreStill great for 2 bucks. Good buy!

Not good, Waiting for improvement...

Second review I am giving, I am still not having any luck with this dictionary... i.e. words I have looked up unsuccessfully: Hydrosalpinx, Panus, or Pannus, Hyperemiea, Hyperemic..... every word I have searched has not been there. No reason to keep this on my phone!

The BEST!

I purchased this app. so I may learn medical acronyms better and this sure does help. I also like the fact the their is a button that dictates the word to you. I will use this for reference for my upcoming tests. ohh n for 1.99 well worth it, I would buy this if it was 5 bucks

Hmm

The dream dictionary is like a fortune cookie and the medical is good for a general description

Not wort it!!

The "about me" part of this app wont even open! I have reported it but have gotten no rresponse. I purchased this so I could record my surgeries, medicationd, etc. For when I go to a new doctor....waste of money!

Last time i buy something nobody has reviewed

Im an LPN, getting my RN next year and really wanted a nice med dictionary for my itouch, this was a waste of money. One star for the dream dictionary, its actually kinda interesting. Medical dictionary useless, its extremely basic. Would be useful to someone with no medical knowledge.

Finally

There were 2 apps that I had hoped would be available since the app store opened. Epocrytes and a Medical Dictionary. Finally I have them both! Im not sure that Ill ever use the dream portion, but hey, its interesting!

good reference

I like the medical reference. We need more medical applications and Im glad someone took the time to make one. In response to the review that said that they dont think this goes into enough detail, this applications is comparable to the medical dictionary in Epocrates and the palm version of Mosbys. None of them go into a tremendous amount of detail; they just give you a quick definition of a term, which is very useful as a student or new practitioner to use as a reminder. Thats why its a called dictionary and not a complete reference book. I do think, however, the dreams dictionary should be a completely separate app. Im afraid it takes away the validity of the medical reference having combined a para-science with a science. It would be akin to combining an astrology reference with astrophysics. I admit I avoided it at first for this reason but then decided to download it for the medical dictionary since there arent a lot of other options out there. Having said that, the dream reference is cute, and I think there are enough people who would buy it on its own. (Edited to add review of the medical dictionary.)

Liars

Dont believe what you read. One day one .99. I guess that applies for whatever day you actually find their app. I bought it jan 15. As for the app good app. Would have given 4 star but for the deception.

Strange combination

The medical dictionary and acronym dictionary is useful, although there are some routine acronyms missing... I think it would also be nice if disapproved acronyms were marked as such (ie. "MS - 1. Multiple Sclerosis 2. Morphine Sulfate (disapproved)"

Useless!

Very much useless and waste of money. Lots of unknown medical terms! Needs improvement and more terms pls!

Great for the price!

It would be nice to have more terms. I like the new interface, except I miss the large buttons that would appear around the keyboard (like the clear text button, that was useful!) Also, please make it so you can search more than one database at a time, for example, both the acronym and medical terms database would be very helpful.

Dream dictionary Love it!

I purchased just for the Dream dictionary. And I love it and use it several times a week. It would be nice to have more words for the Dream dictionay.

Not professional

Im a 4th yr medical student and wanted a general medical dictionary, this one is missing basic terms and words at times Too much to be really good for profesionals IMO

This is a sorry med dictionary

It doesnt have a ton of stuff like Lyme, and many others in there. Do not buy it thinking it is a complete dictionary of any thing!

Racist & Patriarchal?

Okay, Ive been studying dream analysis for sometime now and have never read a more biased set of interpretations. Albeit that CG Jungs theory was also created under patriarchal influence but this is at a whole new level (lower). Dreams involving "Negroes" (actual quote from the app not mine) were portrayed as negative, both the interpretation & the proposed dream image. Ive had dreams of people from various cultural backgrounds & when I have looked it up in other more reputable dream interpretation dictionaries it describes "dark skinned" persons as symbolizing mystery & wisdom not impending doom as this app suggests. Also, there are some very chovanistic connotations as well. Overall, I was a little offended. Also, as a comment to the linear thinking doctor jokingly comparing astrophysics to astrology...there are several collective research teams involving physicists, archetypal cosmologists, astrologists & psychologists working to fund supportive findings that all these areas are linked. Maybe you should expand your horizons beyond the obvious.
